Various Interesting Stuff: Tesla, Fisker and Ford

by Mike –

Tesla is making the news again and not for a good reason, again. Jalopnik reports that Tesla has both a technical problem and a customer relations problem caused by their battery design and maybe short sighted management.

According to Jalopnik “If the battery is ever totally discharged, the owner is left with what Tesla describes as a “brick”: a completely immobile vehicle that cannot be started or even pushed down the street. The only known remedy is for the owner to pay Tesla approximately $40,000 to replace the entire battery.”

Not good for Tesla or their customers. Read the entire post “Tesla Motors’ Devastating Design Problem”.

The last big news about Tesla was when they lost the Top Gear lawsuit. The latest news on the lawsuit is also not good for Tesla.

Fisker Karma

Yesterday I saw a Fisker Karma in the wild for the first time. I have seen them at car shows for the past couple of years but this is the first one that I have seen on the road.

Coming up behind this car I could tell this was something not normally seen on the road. It is one of the most beautiful body styles to come along in many years.

I grabbed my camera and took this picture while I was driving. I wonder if that is legal? In California the driver cannot use a cell phone without a hands free headset but I believe that the law does not mention a camera. So I believe that am in the clear.

Not your typical Ford – the Evos is a concept car on display at the Consumer Electronics Show a few weeks ago in Las Vegas.

This does not look like any Ford that I have seen before. Here is what Road & Track had to say about the Evos.

The Ford Evos photos were supplied to me by Thomas Sachson.
