The design genius behind many of the worlds most beautiful cars has done it again with the Geneva Motor Show introduction of the Brivido, a Volkswagen hybrid powered concept car.
Giorgetto Giugiaro’s company, Italdesign Giugiaro, was acquired in 2010 by Volkswagen. A very smart move for Volkswagen.
Italian design combined with German engineering is a great combination. The Brivido is a plug-in hybrid that has four-seats and a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine producing 360 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque . It also has an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Italdesign Giugiaro claims 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) time of 5.8 seconds with a top speed of 171 mph.
While these numbers are impressive the real story here is the beautiful design styling. Let’s hope that Volkswagen will take this car to production without any design changes.
Maybe this will be a trend – modern cars that are unique and beautiful instead of looking like every other car on the road.
This interior is inviting.
I think I see a similarity to the De Tomaso Mangusta.
