by Mike -

Many of you in different time zones than me already know that the fire damaged, yet affordable Bizzarrini GT 5300, up for auction in Swizerland sold for CHF125,103 ($136,651)!

This is an amazing number considering how much work is needed, like almost everything is needed. Hopefully the chassis can be saved.

I am sure the buyer knows what he is doing and I look forward to seeing the newly restored car in about three years.

The new pictures shown here were sent to me by Jack Koobs de Hartog.

The auction results are here with a lot of activity at the end.

Also, no one was injured in this fire except the insurance company and after this auction their pain is a little less.

Unbelievable, this is one expensive ashtray, but then again I think Gooding sold either a TR or a 250 that had twice burned for something like 16M USD.

    • Let’s look on the bright side – this is the least expensive Bizzarrini GT 5300 to sell in the past 10 years.

Let’s hope the buyer knows what he is doing and that the chassis can be saved. We will see this car in a few years hopefully beautiful and sorted out.

The more I look at the pictures the more I think he purchased a VIN number. The heat from the fire had to have an effect on the frame and why chance building a whole new car on a bad frame?

Then there is the whole issue with two cars having the same 300 VIN number

But, burt, crashed and restored Bizzarrini’s have been sold before. There always seems to be a buyer when a car looks so good, like a Bizzarrini.
