Bizzarrini GT 5300 Race Car Chassis No. BA4 0106

by Mike –

Bizzarrini chassis number BA4 0106, completed in 1965, was the only GT 5300 right hand drive car raced by the Bizzarrini factory. This Bizzarrini competed at not only the 1000 kms of Monza and the Targa Florio but also the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The photos above are before the exterior restoration – here is a video of this Bizzarrini race car.

At the end of the 1966 season, the car was fitted with a 7-litre engine and returned to Le Mans in 1967. BA4 0106 was then put into storage for some 35 years and was “lost” for many years. It was mechanically restored a few years ago but retains its original bodywork in the photos above.

After an exterior restoration

Below are photos after an exterior restoration. Lemb Motorsport in Germany takes care of this Bizzarrini race car.

Michael Lemb sent this message below in a Comment on an earlier Post about this special race car,

Yes this is the Original BA 106 and the car has now a German owner. We raced it last year at the Le Mans classic, and after the Race weekend we went to Livorno and showed the car to Giotto Bizzarini.

  1. ~ many cars from the era just seem much too crude to drive enjoyably at high speed for an extended period, not the Bizzarrini GT 5300, this example stands out as exceptional among the best.
