Another Dreamer Designs And Builds His Own Special Car

by Mike –

The Anteros was the first car that caught my eye at the Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance a few weeks ago.

This is a stunning design built on a Corvette C6 and to me it looks better than the Corvette. It probably cost a lot more too but if you drove this car it would be the only one in your neighborhood.

Roger Hector, the owner and designer, told me he wanted to make this a production car but had some bad luck with suppliers.

That is too bad because I would love to see more examples of this car on the road.

You know that the Chevrolet Corvette mechanical parts means this car will go like the wind and be reliable too. With the shape of this Anteros it will also be one of the best looking cars on the road and everyone will stop and stare as it speeds by.

The Anteros is a coach-built automobile constructed on the Chevrolet Corvette C6 platform. Two prototypes and two production versions were made in 2006.

It is powered by a supercharged Corvette 550 hp 6-liter fuel-injected LS2 V8 engine and has a forward-tilt hood with inner fenders and a motorized folding top.

The Anteros is equipped with a heads-up display, modern computer controls and entertainment system. For the production series, HST (of Mexico) fabricated and finished the body and interior materials in house and did all the assembly.

The body is a lightweight carbon fiber composite and its custom interior includes re-contoured leather seats, leather dash, Italian carpeting and wood and leather-wrapped interior panels.

The wheels and exhaust system are also bespoke. Each required approximately 12 weeks to build.

The current, second owner designed this, the first production car.

It is a very professional design, to my way of thinking, and the quality (I have seen it in person) is top notch. It seems to be stylistically a blend of other automaker’s themes from a Vallelunga nose to Jag XK8 side profile. The taillights are always a problem with a redesign, if you use one from an existing automaker, it could be mistaken for one of their brand. If you hand make them, they look kit car-ish. Still I congratulate any car enthusiast who can get a design of his own into production. It’s every car enthusiast’s dream
