Do you wonder why the hot rod and custom car culture developed so that so many cars have the engine exposed to the elements?
Some of the engines with blowers will not fit in the engine compartment so the engine goes through the top of the hood.
But what about where the engine is covered on top with a hood but exposed on the sides only?
Or there is no hood at all?
Removing the hood could have started as a way to save weight like removing the fenders so the car would go faster on the lake beds or Bonneville.
This one has both no hood sides and the blower pokes out the top.
No matter why this started you have to admit it looks cool.
