A Red Bizzarrini GT 5300 Is Sold At Auction

by Mike –

A 1967 Bizzarrini GT 5300 Strada, chassis number IA3*0281, has sold at Artcurial Motorcars at Rétromobile in Paris recently for 351,451 Euros ($467,430). The estimate was 320,000 – 420,000 Euros ($425,600 – $558,600).

I wrote about this Bizzarrini GT 5300 before when it was for sale on Anamera.

Here are highlights from the Artcurial Motorcars listing:

* Sold new in France

* Originally blue with red leather

* It was painted red and had the leather changed to black in 1987

* It comes with its tool kit and a copy of the original booklet “Uso et Manutenzione”

* Two owners from new

I have not seen nor heard of a Bizzarrini painted blue with red leather interior from the factory before.

Bizzarrini did not supply tool kits with their cars but the “Uso et Manutenzione” manual is very rare and valuable.

This car has been off the radar screen of people in the Bizzarrini world from almost the beginning. It is great to find an authentic Bizzarrini that was previously unknown.

However, it would be better if it was original as discussed in the Barn Find Original Versus Restored Classic Car. This likely impacted the price because the price seems low to me.

Perhaps there are condition problems that we do not know about. As I said before I think the valve covers may not be original.

The Artcurial Motorcars at Rétromobile web site is here.
