Lamborghini Aventador

A Guest Post by Tania Cosman –

Last year the Geneva Motor Show was home to some interesting and long awaited debuts. One of these was the Lamborghini’s Aventador LP-700-4.

Featuring a 691 bhp (515 kW) 6.5 liter 60° the Lamborghini Aventador delivers 700HP, 509 lb-ft of torque and reaches a top speed of around 349.2 km/h (217 MPH).

The President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann has stated that “the Aventador is a jump of two generations in terms of design and technology, it’s the result of an entirely new project, but at the same time it’s a direct and consistent continuation of Lamborghini’s brand values. It is extreme in its design and its performance, uncompromising in its standards and technology, and unmistakably Italian in its style and perfection. Overall, the dynamics and technical excellence of the Aventador LP 700-4 make it unrivaled in the worldwide super sports car arena.”

Chosen as the car of the year by Top Gear in 2011, Lamborghini Aventador comes in a shape that stylistically combines the Estoque concept car and the limited-edition Reventón. It is also said to be an evolution of its predecessor, Murciélago which is not something that difficult to notice. Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 was designed at the Centro Stile Lamborghini in Sant’Agata Bolognese. As one can see, this car is inspired from the fastest aircraft in the world and from modern aeronautics.

The car aerodynamics has been improved as much as possible through the car’s proportions. Thus, Lamborghini Aventador is 2.26 metres wide and 4.78 metres long with a height of only 1.136 metres. The car comes with the two passenger doors that open upwards towards the sky, a feature that is now representative of all Lamborghini’s supercars.

Aventador LP 700-4 is available in 13 exterior colors that include: AD Personam, Grigio Estoque, Bianco Canopus, Nero Nemesis and Marrone Apus. All the necessary instructions will be displayed on the large LCD. The navigation and stereo functions are controlled by an independent system and LCD screen.

Lamborghini’s supercar will feature electronic brake distribution, speed-dependent servo-tronic steering, ESP stability control, anti-slip control, ABS and hill start assist. There are three driving modes to choose from: Strada (road), Corsa (track) and Sport.

Aventador will pack a V12 engine that will accelerate the car from 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds and deliver a power to weight ratio of 2.25 Kg/hp. Graziano Trasmissioni built the car’s single-clutch 7-speed semi-automatic transmission and the Swedish company Haldex Traction developed the four-wheel drive system. Though the car is single-clutch, Aventador shifts gears in 50 milliseconds.

Soon after releasing Aventador LP 700-4 Lamborghini announced that they have already sold over 12 months of the production capacity. The price of the car reaches $387,000. Lamborghini is now working on a SV version of Aventador that will take some of the features of Lamborghini Murcielago LP-670 SV and that will achieve more than 400 km/h (248.6 MPH).
