There are several interesting cars for sale today on the Internet. The first one is a 1966 ASA 1000 GT Roadster on eBay.
I saw this car at the Carmel-by-the-Sea Concours On The Avenue in 2011.
I remember that this car appeared to be in excellent condition. The eBay price was $139,000.
Next there is a Bizzarrini 1900 GT Europa for sale in Germany. The seller says “Simply the Best Bizzarrini Europa 1900 in this planet.” That sounds great but an inspection and confirmation of the history is still a good idea.
This photo below is not the car for sale but is a picture of a Europa sent to me by my friend Les Burd from somewhere in Europe using a phone camera. The Europa for sale is on Classic Driver.
There was a very unusual car for sale recently on eBay. It is a project car with a Lamborghini GT 400 engine and parts of the chassis but not the body. The seller was planning to make this a hot rod like Bizzarrini GT 5300 using the V12 Lamborghini engine, that was designed by Giotto Bizzarrini, and wrapping it in a Bizzarrini GT 5300 like body.
I must say that I like this idea and I love the irony. However, the execution is important and it may have been a better idea to use an expert made Bizzarrini body which can be bought in Italy. Or possibly have a Bizzarrini chassis made with the intention to fit the V12 Lamborghini engine and a proper Bizzarrini body.
This is a rare project because how many times do you see a Lamborghini 400 or 350 GT engine separated from the rest of the car?
The asking price is $65,000. This is expensive when you realize that this will never be worth any more than it is now and Enzo Ferrari would turn over in his grave to know that one of his great cars was gutted to make a Ferrari replica of some kind.
Here is more about what I think on this subject.
My thanks to Brent H., Bruce C. and Mike C. for sending me information.
Mike,
Any idea if the ASA 1000 GT roadster is a metal body or fiberglass?
Thanks,
Magic
I believe the body is steel and the hood is aluminum. Does anyone know for sure?
Fiberglass
Did Ferrari really develop a car with a fiberglass body?
