RM Auctions will be auctioning this beautiful 1963 Porsche 904/6 Carrera GTS Factory Works race car in Monterey. This is the same car that I saw a few months back at a local classic car dealer where I took these photographs.
The estimate is $1,800,000-$2,200,000 US (1.49-1.8 Euros) (1.16-1.4 Pounds Sterling).
Here is what RM has to say about this special Porsche
200 bhp, 1,991 cc SOHC six-cylinder engine, dual Weber carburetors, five-speed manual transmission, front and rear independent suspension, and front and rear disc brakes. Wheelbase: 90.6″
Please note that this vehicle will be sold on a Bill of Sale only.
• One of five surviving six-cylinder Works Team 904s
• One of few 904/6 that still retains the 906 six-cylinder engine with which it was sold to its first owner
• Early factory testing and development work followed by successful privateer racing history
• Completely restored and meticulously maintained
• Fully documented from new
• Numerous spare parts and extensive records, including period correspondence

When I saw this car a few months ago I did not know that it had such a special history. Of course all Porsche 904 Carrera GTSs are special.
Ferdinand A. Porsche who died in April of this year was responsible for the styling of this car, one of the most beautiful Porsches ever. He also styled the Porsche 911 one of the most successful and loved sports cars in history.

I have written about another Porsche 904 GTS For Sale.
I remember not so long ago when a $1 million Porsche was a really big deal, now it seems that $2 million is normal especially for a Porsche such as this one.
