Car Of The Day – Classic Car For Sale – 1966 Shelby GT 350

by Mike –

Here is my pick for the classic car for sale today that I would like to own. A 1966 Shelby GT 350 with a Paxton Super Charger is rare, although it is an add on and did not come with this car originally. I still like it for the period correct performance improvement.

It can be reversed for any collector who wants the car the way it was originally. The same with the transmission change mentioned below.

The seller says:

* 3 owner car has been verified with the SAAC Registry

* 68,622 miles

* Numbers matching, extremely clean, straight car. No stories!

* The original owner purchased this car new in July 1966 and kept it for for 35 years

* The second owner restored the car – his work consisted of complete strip and repaint, new interior with NOS parts, and detail of the underside of the car

* The 3rd owner installed a period correct Paxton Supercharger

* The seller is the 4th owner and he installed a T-5 speed transmission to make driving more enjoyable

* The original transmission that came with the car is available

* He also installed the Cragar Wheels, that are currently on the car, and side exhaust

* Documentation includes the “1966 Ford Mustang Manual” and the original “1966 G.T. 350 Shelby American Owner’s Manual” which are believed to be original documents

This Shelby GT 350 is for sale on eBay (the current bid is $90,400) and is located in Covina, California.

The seller says it is a three owner car, yet he is the fourth owner.

While I prefer the 1965 Shelby GT350 – the 1966 model is a close second and there are some things I like better about the 1966 model. Like the much lower price and the possibility of a different color combination than the white with blue stripes and black interior as was standard on all 1965 GT 350s.

This 1966 GT 350 in red is very nice and will stand out in a collection of Shelby Mustangs. The low miles and known ownership history with only four owners is also a big plus.
