Here is my pick for the classic car for sale today that I would like to own. A one owner and unrestored Shelby GT350 is very rare and the price estimate reflects that rarity. The 1965 and 1966 Shelby GT350 are the Shelby Mustangs to own because of their very close connection to Shelby. They are essentially street legal race cars modified at the Shelby factory rather than at the Ford factory like some later models.
1966 Shelby GT350 Fastback
The seller says:
– Won the first ever “Survivor Award” at the 1993 National Shelby convention
– Original and unrestored GT350 Fastback
– Original 289 CI engine– One family owned since new
– Original build sheet, bill of lading and owner’s manual
– In storage for the last 20 years
– Service records and actual miles
– Radio delete
This 1966 Shelby GT350 is for sale at the Mecum 26th Original Spring Classic 2013 May 14-19.
The estimate is $200,000 – $250,000.

I do prefer the 1965 Shelby GT350 but this 1966 is tempting because of the originality and the one family ownership with all of the documentation. I also like this color and the fact that there is nothing to do because with an original car all you do is drive it and maintain it – no restoration work!
If you want to take it to a show or the track – you drive it there and back. The judges at the show won’t mind a little road dirt because that is expected on an original car.
