This is a great looking little car, a 1954 Fiat Stanguellini Berlinetta. I have never seen one of these before – probably because this is the only one, or one of very few.
This car is likely not quick but it looks happy. It would be fun on a sunny day going to a picnic.
Designed by Franco Scaglione of Bertone it is constructed on a Fiat chassis and powered by a Stanguellini 1100 cc engine.
The Stanguellini Company has been around for a long time and in the 1950s and 1960s they built fast little sports cars based on Fiats.
Briggs Cunningham bought this car for his wife after the New York Auto Show in 1953. What a great guy, I suspect that she loved it.
A very cool hatchback.
These pictures were taken at the Marin Sonoma Concours d’Elegance in May 2011.
This car is for sale by Fantasy Junction for $295,000 although it is now at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
Got to love it!
Oh, yeah what a great little car, although I may not fit in it.
Very nice Fiat 1100 TV Berlinetta Speciale . Only 3 of those were made for Stanguellini as a “sportiva” version. (too bad somebody added those rear bumpers!)
Does anybody know if the “Spider” is still in existence???
~ Briggs had an eye for the unique and unusual. this one certainly expresses character.
I have this one, Berlinetta in red color and black leather. Where can I find more info?
