Car Of The Day – Classic Car For Sale – 1959 Jaguar XK150 S Roadster

by Mike –

Here is my pick for the classic car for sale today that I would like to own. I do not write about Jaguars very often but the Steve McQueen XKSS and the Jaguar XK150 OTS are special cats.

I do like Jaguars but you have to admit they are numerous. You can hardly go to a car show, or an auction, without seeing several. This green on green XK150 really caught my eye though.

* Meticulously Restored to Show Standards

The estimate is $125,000 – $150,000 without reserve.

I really like the XK150, XK140 and XK120 Jaguars. There is an elegance about the styling that is unsurpassed. As I said above I love the green on green color combination of this example.

I also am impressed with the history, as described by Gooding, including the restoration, the awards won and the low 47,000 miles, which is less than 1,000 miles per year.

I think the estimate is reasonable and some lucky person is going to go home with a beautiful Jaguar XK150 Roadster.

  1. ~ the XK 120,140, 150 siblings are the cars i first remember starring at, slack-jawed, light-headed, nearly speechless. very influential design within the industry and in my mind. this particular green/green combination is gorgeous.

  2. Mike, I will agree with you that the XK’s are represented at many a car show or auction. But by that token we can say the same about the Ferrari. 250 HP with 4 wheel disc brakes wrapped in one of the most beautiful metal work. The engine is a jewel on its own. That much horsepower out of an in-line 6, WOW. Please don’t think I’m

    • Sorry, more difficult to do it on a phone. As I was saying please don’t think I’m partial to this car just because I own an XJR… ))

  3. George…

Hello, I owned this car when I lived in LA 1964 – 1985. The CA license plate was QHW257. I have many pictures of it as well. I only owned it for three years. I sold it when I went to work in NYC. Please let me know what has become of the vehicle now. I tried to find it some years back with no success. I had people looking for it and thought it was at the Emeryville CA. location. I would very much appreciate knowing about the vehicle now and sharing my pictures and the history of the car with you. We also had a 4.2 short block under the old straight ported gold head. The engine work was done in Van Nuys by Graham Thomas and Colin Chapman. It would be fantastic if we could share information with you. Looking forward to communicating with you. Vincent J Gambino
