Iso Grifo For Sale

Iso Grifo No. 009 has been the subject of a no-expense spared complete restoration where everything was replaced or rebuilt to as new condition by Charley Potts at California Classics in Burlingham, California.

With styling by Giorgetto Giugiaro, chassis design by Giotto Bizzarrini and power by Chevrolet the Iso Grifo has become one of the most desirable collector cars in the world. There were only 413 made and some of those no longer exist making the Iso Grifo a rare classic GT car. They always attract a crowd and they drive like a dream.

I had the opportunity to inspect this Grifo in 2006 before it was purchased by the current owners. I have followed the restoration process from the beginning. The photos here are my photos from the restoration through the awards won including the Iso Class Winner at The Quail, A Motor Sports Gathering in August 2012.

We were celebrating the 50th anniversary of Iso GT cars at The Quail in 2012 and there were 27 Iso cars on display. I believe this is the largest gathering of Iso cars since the factory shut down in the early 1970s. Grifo No. 009 was voted the Iso Class Winner by the other Iso owners.

  1. With speed limit on U.S. roads, in order to enjoy a few seconds of this car’s capabilities….one needs to go to the Mojave desert.

  2. Beautiful car at all times! Una delle più belle auto sportive Italiane! Grande Giotto,Nuccio……Colore fantastico!

  3. Chris lackner says

A couple of nit-picking things I noticed – the brake servo has been uprated to the later and larger ATE type from the original smaller Lockheed one with remote servo. The horn push on such an early car would have been the one with Iso script and a star (used until at least chassis #54) and the radio blanking plate is for a much later Iso – the original was a plastic one. Also the Griffon nose badge did not come in until quite a bit later – it would originally have had the black horseshoe one with red white & green strip along the bottom. Small things, to be sure.
