This Ferrari race car was sold at the Bonhams auction at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the U.K. today for £10,753,500 (US$ 18,315,846) including the buyers premium.

This is a race car with a deep history as described by Bonhams.

So here is a classical front-engined factory Ferrari handled in period by truly charismatic top-line drivers and one whose ex-works story is jam-packed with astounding eccentricity, sometime mystery and now completely resolved intrigue…

I wonder what the new owner is going to do with this treasure: race it, show it, or just park it in a garage?

The point is: Not will he play with it ? But he has successfully exchanged a large roll of one of the world’s currencies ( no one knows if it was $ or € or £) that may turn into toilet paper one morning into somethinh/anything of substance. This is not the only exchange of this type going on. Check the recent record of “Water Lilies” or any other “collectable” anything.

I’d like to hear a reasonable explanation as to why J. Swaters over in Belgium restored this car under a fake serial number while all the while the last owner Karl Kieft , over in America, was trying to find out where his car went–true, he left it sitting in a open field, but that’s no reason to steal it. Up until I heard that Swaters was a hero of mine for sponsoring a 250LM at LeMans but this hanky panky with this car soured his image for me.

As a Ferrari enthusiast I looked for the results of the June 2014 Bonhams auctions to see what the 275GTS sold for but there is no mention on the website as to it’s sale or pass in….do you know what happened to it …was Lot 333.
    Best regards,
    Richard
