The recent post on the Ferrari 275 GTB NART Spider led to several comments and a few emails directly to me.
One of the emails came from Michael Feldman who sent in this photo and the story to go along with it.

I took the attached photo at car show in Westchester, NY about 2 ½ years ago. My Bora (backround) had the privilege of being placed next to this 1967 275 GTB/4 330 BHP Competezione. The first of the ten NART Spider’s produced and the only alloy bodied NART Spider.
This pale Giallo (yellow) masterpiece was also the only one of the ten that had racing heritage. It finished second after a 12 hour ordeal at Sebring and was driven by Denise McCluggage & Marianne “Pinkie” Rollo, two famous female drivers of that era.

It was nice to catch a spectator checking out “my” Bora next to this very rare machine.
This same NART Spider was sold in 2005 at a Monterey event for $3,990,000. I was told by the car’s caretaker that his boss, the new owner, had already turned down a $10,000,000 offer. And, to think that I sold my 1966 275 GTB Long Nose, Torque Tube in 1972 for $6,700 and then passed on a beautiful Red 1967 275 GTB/4 that was offered to me at the same price … who knew??
According to a recent Hagerty Insurance Internet newsletter, the first exotic sports car to break the $20,000 barrier as a new car was the 1972 Maserati Bora at $24,800.

I love the Steel light alloy slotted (see the comment below) wheels instead of the chrome wire wheels. I also suspect that this car is worth quite a bit more than $10,000,000.

I cannot believe that someone writes : “I love the Steel wheels instead of the chrome wire wheels.” Is this serious, I mean to refere to these light alloy wheels as steel wheels ? The greatest horror of all would imho be to have wire wheels mounted under these Ferraris !
OK, I made a mistake! It is not the first time and it will not be the last time. I changed the text in the post to reflect the real truth. Thank you for pointing out this “typo”.
Many of the 275 GTBs, including the NART Spiders, that I have seen have wire wheels (including the green and blue Spiders in this post: http://bit.ly/TmX4dH).
I agree with you that the light alloy slotted wheels are more appropriate.
Whoa…an authentic alloy bodied competition Nart spyder….even we coupe snobs have to bow down to that. Extremely impressive indeed. And LOVE the color combo…figuring the rag top is black, we’re sure it looks great even with the top up. We kneel in homage and awe.
