Our Aston Martin Vanquish S is Up For Auction

by Mike Gulett –

Sometimes it is not easy to explain why it is time to move on and sell a special car, yet that is where I am now with our lovely 2005 Aston Martin Vanquish S.

For the three years I drove this yellow beauty it attracted a lot of attention because most people expect an Aston Martin to be a shade of silver or gray as that is what James Bond drove. While it was on display at The Quail in 2024 and Astons on the Avenue in 2025, I told people that this was likely the only yellow Vanquish is existence.

It turns out this is the only Ferrari Giallo Modena Vanquish ever made making it a ‘One of One’. This is documented by the Aston Martin Heritage Trust certificate that I recently commissioned.

It is listed on Bring a Trailer managed by Mohr Imports as part of their Monterey Car Week Collection.

25 Years Later – Still The Gentleman’s Analog Supercar

Introduced in 2001, the Aston Martin Vanquish blended British elegance with power, speed and sound. It featured a hand-built 5.9-liter V12. Though it had a paddle-shifted manual gearbox, the rest of the driving experience was analog. Hydraulic steering, an aluminum and carbon fiber frame, and a cabin lined in leather and aluminum—all crafted the old way.

The Vanquish represented the end of the Newport Pagnell era, Aston’s historic factory, making it a bookend for traditional coachbuilt British GTs. It wasn’t the fastest car in the segment, but it delivered something rarer: presence, mechanical authenticity, and an irreplaceable sense of occasion (that V12 sound is wonderful).

Even today, the Vanquish feels remarkably current. Its proportions are pure Aston Martin, but its surfacing and stance hint at everything the Aston Martin would become.

Look closely and you’ll see the seeds of future icons—DB9, DBS, even modern Vanquish revivals. It didn’t just fit into Aston Martin’s lineage; it established the design language going forward.

Today the Vanquish occupies a unique place in Aston Martin history. It is:

  • The last Aston Martin built at Newport Pagnell
  • The first truly modern Aston Martin of the 21st century
  • A cultural icon thanks to Bond
  • A technical bridge to the Aston Martin future

Its value in the collector world is on the rise, as buyers realize they’re not likely to see its kind again.
