The Ferrari 275 GTB/4 is considered one of the best sports cars of all time and this 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 is extra special.
The 275 GTB/4 was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in October 1966. It has a 3.3 liter V12 four-camshaft engine with six carburetors as standard equipment. It produces 300 hp and has a top speed of 165 MPH.
This car was designed by Pininfarina and built by Scaglietti; there were 280 made between 1966 and 1968. The body is steel and the hood, doors and the trunk lid are aluminum alloy.
All Original Ferrari
This car has spent most of its 44 year life in storage and has been driven only 11,500 miles. It is a three owner car and has never been restored. It has original paint, chrome, interior, wheels, motor and even the Italian license plates are original!
I am very happy that I was able to see this car in person at the Palo Alto Concours d’Elegance in 2011, the first time it was shown in public.
This Ferrari was shown again at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August 2012 in the Preservation Class. It is owned by my friend Phil White who also owns a beautiful green Ferrari 275 GTB.
Barn Find Ferrari 275 GTB
This Ferrari 275 GTB Alloy Long Nose was at the Gooding auction in Monterey in August 2011. The estimate was $900,000 – $1,300,000 and the car sold for $1,540,000!
I was surprised at how much this original and shabby car sold for. It needed everything done as far as I could tell. It would be a very expensive restoration on top of the high purchase price.
However, maybe the new owner will not restore this Ferrari instead leaving it original – continuing to rust away.
Can you see the patina in these photos?
There is quite a contrast between these two all original Ferrari 275 GTBs; one has been well cared for and the other has not, yet the poorly cared for Ferrari still sells for a very high price. This can only mean that the well cared for car is worth even more. Right?

I always wanted one of these. For me the 275 GTB is the last of the really desirable Ferraris.
Looked at and missed an alloy GTB long nose in 1970 for 10K when I only had $100 to my name. It was in the same shape.
~ I always wanted two of these. but i’ll take either.
This was my favorite Ferrari back in my high school days but it was so expensive back then, about $18 to 23 thousand if I can recall.I finally convinced my father to purchased me a second best: Jaguar xke coupe which was really a bargain at about $6000 new price tag.
