Car Of The Day – Classic Car For Sale – 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429

by Mike –

Here is my pick for the classic car for sale today that I would like to own. The Mustang Boss 429 was not a race car but it had a race car engine because Ford used the Boss 429 for homologation of the engine for racing in the Torino. Why they did this I don’t know but there must have been a good reason, or a dumb reason, but I am sure there was a reason.

The result is probably the fastest Mustang made in the 1960s and 1970s, at least in a straight line.

There were only 859 Boss 429s made making it a rare Mustang. Kar Kraft in Michigan was tapped by Ford to put the Boss 429 together because a lot of work was needed to fit the engine into the Mustang.

It is mind boggling that someone would buy this car and only drive it 97 miles since 1969. That explains why it needed a restoration – it was not kept in good running order by even a little bit of driving.

I like this color and I like the lack of the tail wing and the rear window louvers, I like this clean simple look. The 1969 and 1970 Mustang body style has always been one of my favorites.

The new owner of this Boss 429 is getting essentially a brand new 1969 muscle car. What a treat that will be.

Great looking car. I too like the simple clean look that’s complimented by white color. This is a very nice example and I would definitely drive it. Even with several thousand more miles it might still qualify for the lowest mile boss 429. If it didn’t that would be ok too. At 97 miles, this is not a car but a piece of furniture. IMO cars are meant to be driven, especially something as cool as this one. Can you imagine what the original owner missed out on?

    • I can’t imagine what the owners of this terrific car were thinking except that it was an investment and each mile reduced the value of their investment.
