With all the attention being paid to electric cars, one body style absent (except from Tesla) has been the open car.
Nissan has just shown three EV prototypes and one, thankfully, is a convertible. Nissan calls the roadster the Nissan Max-Out.
Here is what I think of the style:
FRONT Plain Jane but functional. Don’t know where those huge air intakes are going but it isn’t a radiator.
SIDE Lot of attention paid to rear haunches, kind of Camaroish on the sides with all that indentation. They should have to pay Aston Martin a mini-royalty fee for stealing their side vent if they produce it as shown.
REAR 1968 Plymouth Barracuda? Very clean look. Little unclear from publicity photos if the top is under that rear deck panel.
IN SUM It will be a shame if convertibles are forgotten in the rush to pure electrics. Surely some automaker will challenge Tesla’s roadster which is getting old now before it’s even introduced.
This roadster breaks from the Nissan 370Z which was an ugly car, and looks more Italian. We hope it makes it to the party by 2023, as these dates of 2030 are too far off to even plan for by enthusiasts.
