This classic Mustang is for sale on Hemmings.

Some questions that were not addressed in the sellers ad are: what is the milage?, in addition to the paint has there been any other restoration work?, is there any rust? has the car been in an accident?

I have always loved this Mustang model. It may be the fastest Mustang made in the 1960s, at least in a straight line. While this model was not a race car the engine was a race engine and was installed in this car by Kar Kraft for Ford so the engine could be homologated for use in Ford race cars.

I especially like the versions that do not have the rear window louvers and the rear air spoiler like most seem to have. Without these additions the beautiful lines can be admired as on this car.

  1. I always thought these Boss 429s were sexy beasts. Why does the seller say “original Boss 429 fenders are still in place”? Was there a problem with the Boss 429 fenders?

  2. ~ i’ll agree that the appearance is better without louvers and spoiler, but does ‘currently painted red’ mean it was once another color? price? i’m out.

    • The original color was Calypso Coral.

This is one of the lowest priced Boss 429s that I have seen in a long time. It is well within the range of the Hagerty Price Guide.

  3. frozenbird455@hotmail.com says

Boss 429 fenders and Boss 302 fenders are different then all other Mustang fenders, the lip is more square to allow the factory size bigger tires. On many restorations the fenders get replaced cause it’s just cheaper and easier to buy a new aftermarket one then to try and massage a original one back. These fenders were also available on a select few ‘special’ editions like my Sidewinder Mustang which came with the factory bigger tires. So to get a 40 year old American built car that was probably driven through every season in its early life with still original fenders is pretty remarkable.

    • Ah ha! So “original Boss 429 fenders” is important. Thanks – they also seem to look better than a regular Mustang fender.

  4. Wow, this black one must be worth a lot more than the red one?
