A Beautiful Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato Race Car At Hillsborough

It is not very often that one sees an Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato and it is very rare to see one painted white.

This special Aston Martin was at the recent Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance.

This 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato (chassis 0180L) raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1961 in it’s current livery, white with the No. 1.

This Aston Martin almost won its class in 1961 but dropped out with a broken starter while leading with one hour left in the race.

There were only 19 of the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagatos made and many consider it to be one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful, car design ever.

It has an aluminum body, an in-line 6-cylinder 3670cc engine with twin-choke Weber carburetors and produces 314 hp. Using a 4-speed manual transmission when new it would go 0 to 60 MPH in 6.1 seconds with a top speed of 154 MPH.

I have seen this car before in the paddock at Laguna Seca.
