One week from today I will be driving the Lamborghini Espada to the Hillsborough Concours D’Elegance.
This is one of my favorite events that I have attended many times.
This Lamborghini Espada is no stranger to this Concours, the oldest continuously running Concours D’Elegance in the world, (see the slide show below from 1978). It was the Hillsborough People’s Choice Award Winner in 1981.
The Espada is a rare car even though there were more than 1200 made compared to about 750 of the two seat Miura sports car. You will see many more Miuras at car shows or auctions than Espadas because many Espadas did not survive; they were driven and used up.
The cost to fully restore an Espada is not quite what the car is worth just yet, but wait it will catch up very soon. Where the cost of a full restoration of a Miura is probably worth the investment depending on the price paid for the unrestored car.

I made this same drive in the Iso Grifo in 2015. The Grifo won its class that year at the Hillsborough Concours D’Elegance even after a drive through pouring rain.
Below is the route I will drive with the exception of a stop in Los Gatos to pick up my friend Michael Menetto.
If you go to Hillsborough stop by ‘Group Q’ and say hello!
Let us know what you think about the Hillsborough Concours D’Elegance in the Comments.
See you at the show Mike. I’m looking forward to seeing your car in person. Cheers.
Mike,
Your Bizzarrini was invited and shown at both New Hope ( started in 1957 ) back in 1966 when New Hope was a more serious event and was a shock back then.
Your Bizzarrini also invited and shown at Radnor Hunt .
Your friend Don has been invited and shown and won every year since he began with Radnor Hunt. I have had homes in both places and both areas are nice. ( If your work requires you to live in the North East and rotten winters).
Hope you are well and having some fun .
Ken

Just finishing up the nut and bolt restoration of a Series 1 Espada that I bought back in the 1990’s.
As someone who is lucky enough to judge major concours across the U.S., Hillsbourogh has always been on my bucket list! Next year for sure
All the Best

Why not go all the way up Hwy one and take 92 at Half moon bay over the hump dropping you right into the event? Much better scenery and little traffic.
That is a good idea and would be a great drive with ocean views most of the way – except I am picking up a friend in Los Gatos.
