The famed Italian car designer, Zagato, has just introduced the IsoRivolta Vision Gran Turismo at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. The new Zagato creation will be a drivable vehicle in Gran Turismo Sport, the latest chapter of the acclaimed Sony PlayStation video game.

While Zagato has not designed an IsoRivolta before they are paying tribute to the famed Italian car builder who is well known for the Iso Rivolta GT, the Iso Isetta (which was licensed to BMW and other car makers) and the beautiful Iso Grifo, which perhaps inspired the new IsoRivolta Vision Gran Turismo.

There is a family connection between the Zagato and Rivolta families; Andrea Zagato (CEO of Zagato) is married to Marella Rivolta Zagato, the daughter of Piero Rivolta (the last CEO of Iso Rivolta) and she is the granddaughter of Renzo Rivolta the founder of Iso.

The hood scoop on this new super car is a reminder of the unique hood scoop on the Iso Grifo 7-Litre model.

According to Zagato, the Zagato IsoRivolta Vision Gran Turismo is built around a Corvette Callaway powertrain. With rear wheel drive, it is powered by a twin turbo 6.2 liter V8, with a power output of 997 hp and a top speed of 365 km/h (227 MPH).

With a weight of 1129 kg (2489 lbs), it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 MPH) in 2.7 seconds. The gearbox is a ten speed automatic sequential.

If I was Speed Racer I would be looking for a trade in value on the Mach 5!

Interesting bubble top. No A pillar per say , or any. The body is quite busy too, hard to tell how it would be in real life without a car I know next to it for proportions. The fender treatments are almost like updated pontoons from a Testa Rosa.

Bleh! Seriously? Bloody hell, when I first saw these pics I thought that this looks like the sort of car a Marvel cartoonist might pen…and then it turns out that that’s pretty much what it is.

Car design has gone completely insane and this is potentially the most vulgar piece of junk I’ve ever seen. Am I alone in this?

I know the world has gone utterly mental but this thing is about as attractive as the nightmarish results you see on internet sites claiming “Cosmetic surgery horror stories.”

If I had a choice of owning this car or eating my dogs barf…I would save my money thanks. I would buy a Caterham and plate up!

It’s pure Zagato design and I think they nailed it. I always knew that Marella and Piero would have another Grifo designed but wondered how that would work. The original design was done by Giugiaro, but Marella was married to Zagato? As a designer Zagato is not going to make a modern copy of the Grifo similar to the Ford GT , VW bug or Ford Mustang. Most guys that sit home and read their dusty car magazines aren’t going to like it, but for the new generation especially the ones who now what Sony PS is this design is spot on. Welcome to the future you old farts.
