The Padova classic car event as described on a trade show web site,

With chassis design by Giotto Bizzarrini and styling by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Bertone, Iso made a comfortable four seater that handled like a sports car. It is powered by a Chevrolet Corvette 327 cid engine and has disk brakes on all four wheels with the rear being in-board, like a race car.

The Lele is a 2+2 configuration that filled the gap between the two seater Grifo and the four door Fidia. The Lele also used the Corvette 327 cid V8 with either a manual or automatic transmission. Marcello Gandini of Bertone styled the Lele. The car is named after Lele Rivolta, wife of Piero Rivolta.

  1. It was really a good idea to show nice ISOs at Padova.
The brown Lele is gorgeous! I saw it in Roberto’s workshop last year it is completely original. With the old Italian plate it is really a time capsule. And the very nice GT also.

  2. Chris Lackner says

    Lele is #144 – built Sept 1, 1972, Ford, 5sp, 3.31, air con.

  3. I would be interested in that car Chris 🙂

  4. Mark C Williamson says

Hello. I’m curious. Who writes the captions for the pictures posted here? More accurate information would be nice, too often someone will see something then take it as gospel. As you know, many of the Iso’s used Ford engines, but rarely have I seen that mentioned. And I wouldn’t say it was a Corvette engine either. GM, yes. But I was told that the engines were modified from stock, and not installed directly from GM.

    • You have some misinformation. Iso bought the Corvette engines directly from GM and on some of these engines Iso made performance enhancing modifications.

There were some Iso cars made with Ford engines at the end of the Iso life but the vast majority of Iso cars used Chevy engines – I estimate about 85%+ of all Iso GT cars used a Chevy engine. This is all documented in the Goodfellow book, “ISORIVOLTA, The Men, The Machines”.

  5. Padova was really worth a trip.
Interesting to see how many cars sold at that event.
Too bad most of the cars went to buyers in Germany, Austria, Beligium, Netherlands, a.s.o.
    Italy is loosing its history!

  6. Mike, #144 is Manuel’s, the whole display was his company’s.

  7. Yes it’s my 1972 Lele #144
