For some reason the shape of the Maserati Tipo 151 is hard to forget and I take every chance to publish photos of this beautiful Maserati racecar.
The black and white photos below were sent to me by My Car Quest reader A.A. (Tony) Olissoff in New Zealand. These pictures are of Maserati Tipo 151/004 and Tony believes they are at Le Mans in 1964.
The white car with red and blue stripes is this same car completely rebuilt to its 1964/65 specifications.
Maserati raced the Tipo 151 at Le Mans through 1965 where Lloyd “Lucky” Casner was killed during practice in Tipo 151/4, the car pictured here, which was destroyed in that crash.

Always love the column. The car is progressing well but Paul will take a break for a month, heading to the US with the F5000 historic race car his son pilots.
I’m hoping that we will have a startup before the end of the year.
Because the original car was modified month by month, essentially a different specification car at every meeting (as all developmental race cars were int he day), it is a bit of fun.

Have just completed a ‘4 in 4’ (4 events in 4 weekends, Brands Hatch Super Prix, Spa Francorchamp Youngtimer Historic Festival, Silverstone Calssic, Copenhagen Historic GP) and now heading for Nurburgring for the Oldtimer GP and make it ‘5 in 5’.
Wasn’t sure it could be done by “one man and his car in a van” but if you can think it, you can do it.
