It was a long but great day at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. One observation is that they do not seem to be as well organized as similar events in California. They made a few hundred people, including me, wait for 45 minutes before the event officially was open. So, we all just stood at the gate and waited.
I was also surprised at how crowded it was – it was difficult at times to get a clear view of certain cars and getting a good photo without people blocking the shot was even more of a challenge.
The cars were superb and there were many celebrities around. I saw Sam Posey, who was the guest of honor. I also saw Bob Varsha (of Speed TV) and Brian Redman and I had a discussion with David Hobbs.
Here are photos of some interesting cars – I will publish more later this week.
It was a long haul from California but I loved this event.
Great pictures! Post more, I’m living vicariously through them. Did you get to hang out with any Iso/Bizz people?
I spent a few minutes with Don Meluzio and his Porsche 901 prototype – more on that in another post.
I also saw Ron Spindler present an award but I did not get to talk to him.
No shortage of absolutely brilliant machinery… Fantastic looking forward to even more great pics…
~ you have managed to present a nice selection of images in spite of the given challenges. i forwarded the links and the picture of the Shark to the Forgotten Fiberglass bunch. your report brings the event to life for us.
Scot,
Thanks for sharing, I have more photos of the Shark that I will publish when I reach a stable Internet connection. I am in the Dallas airport now and the WiFi connection is not reliable today, so this message is being sent from my iPad over the 3G network.
I am spending a few days in Louisiana visiting family, I hope my Internet connection is better there.
