It Is Now 2014 – Happy New Year!

When I was a youngster reading science fiction stories and watching movies and TV in the 1960s I was sure we would be driving flying cars, have sentient robots and a colony on Mars by 2014.

Instead of flying cars we have the beginning (actually a restart) of the electric car industry, instead of sentient robots we have the iPhone and instead of a colony on Mars we have a non-sentient robot roaming around Mars looking for water and signs of life.

Below are some of the cars I thought would be in production now. Remember how many of the “cars of the future” looked like airplanes?

Maybe we will have all this stuff by 2020 – that is so far in the future.
