The Pinin Farina styled Lancia Aurelia B24S Spider America is one of the most beautiful roadsters ever made, in my opinion. It is also based on the race bred Aurelia Coupe.
Only 240 Aurelia B24 Spyder Americas were made because production was limited by the Pinin Farina factory capacity.
There are two coming up for auction in Monterey in a few weeks – both are left-hand-drive.
1955 Lancia Aurelia B24S Spider America by Pinin Farina – at RM
RM has not published the description or the estimate yet but there are more photos here.
1956 Lancia Aurelia B24S Spider America – at Gooding
Gooding says,
* Never Before Offered for Public Sale
* Coachwork by Pinin Farina
The estimate is $900,000 – $1,100,000. The Gooding listing is here.
As you can see from the photo Gooding will be taking the “dirt is patina” marketing approach that they have mastered.
Both of these cars will be in big demand and I predict that each will sell for more than $1 million US.
The big question is if the white RM car that appears to be in better, and probably restored, condition will sell for more than the dirty red one offered by Gooding that has never before been offered for public sale.
Let us know in the Comments which one you think will sell for more.

If you compare this to the two 300sl’s for sale a while back , dirt will win!
Mike,
Love your comment, “As you can see from the photo Gooding will be taking the “dirt is patina” marketing approach that they have mastered.” I was in Scottsdale for the Gooding auction and know of what you speak.
I shot this car last month at the Greystone Concours d’Elegance and here’s a link to a photo of the car on my Facebook timeline.

Thanks for sharing these photos Rich. This car has more patina that I thought from the one photo Gooding published on their site. I look forward to their photos and written description.
Mike,
Another reason for the rarity of the beautiful Lancia Aurelia B24S Spyder America is that a number of them, about 20, are sitting at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, in the hold of the Andrea Doria, along with the Chrysler Norseman show car designed by Virgil Exner and built by Ghia. I would imagine that all these cars on the Andrea Doria have great patina and it is not dirt.
David,
I did not know that! How fascinating and terrible.
