This one-off Ferrari 250 GT Bertone (Giugiaro) design was sold at the Gooding auction in Pebble Beach last week for $16.5 million US.
This special Ferrari sold in the middle of the pre-auction estimate with a hammer price of $15 million US. Adding the sales commission results in a total price to the new owner of $16.5 million US.

The closer I looked the more Iso Rivolta design cues I saw. In addition to the hood scoop and other items mentioned before I also noticed that the exterior door handles, interior door handles and wing vent opening knob are the same as on the Iso Rivolta.
The front grille design looks like it was the inspiration for the Iso Grifo grille. In the photo comparison below you can see the similarity in the split grille with the “nostrils” and the logo sculpture in the middle (the Ferrari prancing stallion and the Iso griffon).

It has a lot of features used on the Rivolta GT, but the overall design reminds me of the Sprint Special Alfa’s, especially in the windows, fenders and overall shape. This was the nicest offering Gooding had this year.
But do you think the front looks like Giugiaro’s first attempt at designing the front of the Iso Grifo?
