I was walking around several car shows in 2012 and noticed the many different types of Corvette engines. Corvette owners like to leave their hoods up which made it easier to take photos of the engines.
Corvette engines have different valve cover designs, different intake manifolds, fuel injection, carburetors and maybe super chargers? At least one of these engines is not original to the car and maybe more, I do not know.
The Corvette is America’s sports car, as Chevrolet likes to remind us. I know very little about Corvette engines, maybe some of you knowledgeable readers will fill us in?
I am guessing this is not the original engine.
This is a beautiful engine but is it fast?
I have numbered the engine photos with the same number on the matching car photos.
This will make it easier for you to leave a Comment.
This last Corvette engine is actually not in a Corvette even though it is the original engine for this 1966 beauty.

That beautiful engine has the Rochester fuel injection from the factory, instead of a carburetor, and is probably a 327 cubic inch unit.. You know Corvette engines are great, because they were used in the Iso cars!
They were not all wonderful. Don’t forget the original straight six engine!
Ed,
It is hard to believe that the mighty Corvette started out with a whimper (in terms of performance).
