What if I told you that there is a concours in Los Angeles area where you are walking around amidst many of the world’s most famous car designers? In past shows I had conversations with people like Syd Mead (set design, Blade Runner) and Frank Stephenson, designer of the new Mini and the latest McLarens. In short, everybody who is anybody.
This show is coming up October 25th at the ArtCenter College of Design Pasadena campus high on a hill overlooking the lowlands.
Take it from me, car fans, this show is the “insider” car show for those in the car design world, since most of the world’s car designers are ArtCenter grads. If you are a budding car designer, I’d bring your portfolio, just keep that in the car and hand out a CD with your work. You might get an interview on the spot…
General admission is $30. Information on tickets can be found at the ArtCenter College of Design web site.
The schedule is at this link.
As described by the ArtCenter College of Design,
Car Classic serves as a reminder that behind every beautifully designed car is an innovative and talented designer—one most likely educated at ArtCenter College of Design. For more than 10 years, ArtCenter’s Car Classic event has examined automotive culture and vehicle architecture through the lens of design. More than just another high-profile car show, this popular public event celebrates the very best in automotive design, showcasing the College’s strong ties to industry and honoring many of our noteworthy alumni.
