Here is yet another Steve McQueen Porsche 911 for sale at the Christie’s auction, The Exceptional Sale, on November 4 in Paris.
This Porsche 911T, is one of several Porsche 911s used in the making of the McQueen racing movie, “Le Mans”. Although, this one was not in the movie.
It was bought by CBS Solar Film Studios, McQueen’s production company, from Swiss racing driver Jo Siffert, who delivered Porsche racing and street cars for the movie production and was a driver in the movie.
This Porsche was given by Steve McQueen to German actress Elga Andersen who played the widow of McQueen’s former Ferrari competitor in the film and the love interest of McQueen’s character. Andersen had starred in over a dozen French films of the 1950s & 60s but was best known for her performance in “Le Mans”.
Elga Andersen owned the car until she passed away in 1994. She left it to her best friend, a Swiss lady who later sold it to the current owner.
Christie’s writes,
This right hand drive Swiss-supplied example was first registered on 5th of January 1971, it is a cherished example that has covered just 46.350 Km from new. Condition throughout is superb, with mainly original paintwork. On correct Fuchs “Five Leaf” alloys (6J x 15), the car is fitted with the optional electric sunroof, electric antenna and original radio-cassette. The interior is in excellent original condition with tan leather seats and original carpets.
The estimate is: €250,000 – €350,000 ($284,661 – $398,525).
This Porsche 911 was not painted McQueen’s usual color of dark gray like the 911S he drove in the movie or the 911 Turbo recently sold at auction.
I wonder why it is right hand drive.

Due to McQueenamania I bet it sells for more than the estimate.
Michael, did you ever see or meet McQueen?
Thom,
I have only seen him in movies.
