The perfect thing to wear to a Cars & Coffee….
by Angelita Castenada –
Wallace Wyss, a frequent My Car Quest columnist, and also an accomplished fine artist (he prefers to describe himself by the French term for self taught artists, i.e. a “primitif”) is announcing a unique promotion.
If anyone commissions a portrait of their Ferrari from him, he will include with the 16” x 20” oil on canvas a denim jacket or denim shirt bearing a cloth image of the same painting.
“I debated for a while whether the tifosi would prefer leather or denim,” he says. “But after seeing how many denim jackets are worn at even the most high end Cars ‘n Coffees, like the ones in Malibu, I decided to go with denim.”
Why not just sell his art-embellished denim wear by themselves?
“The jackets are just my way of getting the word out to the cognoscenti about the car portraits,” he says. “I am not entering the clothing business.”
Why only Ferraris? “Eventually I’ll have some with posters of my Ferrari-centric action-thriller ,” he says, “but the first wave, before I receive any orders, are portraits I’ve already done, split between classic ’60s and the latest models.”
Each illustration has a discreet caption giving viewers his contact information.
Will you be able to choose your favorite brand? “No promises,” he says. “I buy strictly for a classic look, not by brand,” says Wyss.
