Last September I wrote about an unusual Iso Grifo for sale at an RM auction in London.
This Iso Grifo sold for £128,800 ($208,000).
What made this Grifo unusual was that it was set up as a race car – it even had the gas tank in the trunk with the racing gas cap protruding from the trunk lid.
A few days ago when I visited Il Bottegone, the shop of Roberto Negri in Clusone, Italy, I was told that this Iso Grifo was there undergoing a complete restoration.
Isos come from around the world to have work done by Roberto and his team. This team helped build these cars in the first place and Roberto took over the Iso parts warehouse after Iso shut down. Over the years Il Bottegone has become the top Iso restoration shop in the world.
Several of the Iso cars that were driven to Milan to attend the Iso Celebration also stopped by Roberto’s shop for a little work. Some of them stayed there and their owners found other transportation home.
Here are photos of this ex-race car Grifo on the rotisserie at Il Bottegone.
It will be back on the road and in perfect shape sometime soon.
