The Only Lamborghini Miura Roadster At Amelia Island – Or Anywhere

by Mike –

This 1968 Lamborghini Miura P 400/ZN75 Roadster is chassis number 3948 and is the only Miura Roadster made by the factory.

This one of a kind Miura was introduced at the 1968 Brussels and later Geneva car shows. It is a light blue metal flake color with big metal flakes.

A complete restoration was done in 2008, including this special and extreme metal flake color.

Look At That Metal Flake

The metal flake does not show up well in the photos but is best seen in the above photo.

I wonder why Lamborghini did not make this a production car.

Wow, nice stack…of carbs that is.

    Great shots.

  2. Looks so much more svelte rebuilt as originally shown, than with the zinc corp fittings, although that was a helluva rebuild job in its own right.
Making this as a production car would have had a whole new share of build issues.
Apparently, there was only an original expectation to build 50 cars.
Making the body/chassis assembly was expensive and a roadster would be hard to make strong enough. I’d expect that there is a LOT of flex in this car, given the amount in one which has a full roof/cabin, so I suspect that the roadster is actually still a ‘show car’ rather than a regular driver.

  3. You are correct about the chassis flex. When Bob Wallace came back from its first test drive he insisted that the car never go into production. Which is a shame because it really is a stunner.
