Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus. And there is as well a racing Iso Rivolta. Not just the one I saw at the Monterey Historics but one that has raced in recent years in European classic car events. I have new respect for the idea of an Iso Rivolta as a race car since I only recently found out the Bizzarrini GT5300 Strada is built on a shortened Rivolta chassis.
According to Koen Heuts of Speed 8 Classics, in Belgium the 327 Chevy engine has a 4 barrel Holley, type 4150, on a stock Chevrolet intake manifold. Gearbox is a 4-speed Borg Warner, T10, with the following ratios: 1st gear 17/36, 2nd 19/30, 3rd 23/29, 4th direct.
Wheels are Minilites; 6″ x 15″ in front and 6.5″ x 15″ in the rear. Tires are 650 x15 Dunlop Racing tires. Final drive is 13/43 teeth. Updates from original include Koni shock absorbers all round, and an anti roll bar up front.
It has been fitted with an aluminum radiator and an engine oil cooler and the top speed is 250km/h. Inside there’s a Cobra racing seat, and a Sabelt 5 point harness. The interior also has the rear seat removed, and a roll cage.
Heuts says the car is a German delivered IR300 with chassis No. 238, prepared in Holland for historic racing in 1993 by Rob Bergmans.
Heut says it is “the best race prepared and fastest Iso GT in the world!!” He actually has the car for sale and says a FIA Historical Technical Passport is available. The car is also street legal and could be entered in rallies such as the Modena Cento Ore.
The price? 167,500 Euros ($202,879 USD or 147,906 pounds sterling at today’s exchange rates).

If you google Iso Rivolta Goodwood you will see a nice yellow Rivolta that has participated at the Revival meeting and other Goodwood events.
