Ferrari Plans Ferrari Only Parade and Ferrari Only Show at Monterey

by Wallace Wyss –

Things they are a-changing’. Ferrari is showing more moxie at Monterey Car Week in 2022 with their Ferrari-only parade and Ferrari-only car show taking place the day before the Pebble Beach Concours.

I don’t know if just anybody with a Ferrari can apply for the parade–they say it will consist of “important historic and contemporary models.” They promise sixty of them. Which they promise will “wind their way through Pebble Beach toward Casa Ferrari.”

And of course, creating this spectacle, they will livestream it as it takes place on Saturday, August 14 at 2 P.M.

If the display is like the previous show at Casa Ferrari it’s free but don’t even think about getting access to the Casa or using their bathroom. But the lookin’s good. I haven’t figured out how I will be there, having commitments, but it will be some great cars maybe even models not announced yet. Look for me in the plantation hat, white suit and a bundle of art…

  1. would be interesting to know exactly which models will be shown.

I would hope for all time greats like P3/4, or GTO but of course they will be plugging the Special Projects cars (and the SP2 is really spectacular in person) They may unveil a new car not seen in the US before once the parade parks at Casa Ferrari.. We can’t complain too much–the show is free!

Ferrari ONLY show in Northern CA?? By God isn’t that racist??

  4. wallace wyss says

Elitist. But then I’m in the thoroughbred racing field where competing horses have to be registered thoroughbreds and Ferraris are thoroughbreds of the car world so you can see why there are events where they want to leave out the wanna-bes..

  5. Won’t that create a conflict of interest if at 2pm there is a Ferrari parade while the Concorso Italiano is also being held until 4pm?

  6. wallace wyss says

Ah, yes. But there is no law that competing events can’t take place at the same time. For example, the racing at Weathertech Laguna Seca is taking place the same time as Pebble Beach concours. But be forewarned–a tour is hit and miss whether you can find the route and see the cars you want to see compared to a concours where the cars are sitting. That tour ends in a concours so eventually all the cars will be there. That whole week is full of competing events and you might have to go to Plan B if Plan A isn’t working out. I just hope everybody attending takes time to sit down for coffee with an old friend and enjoy the ambiance instead of rushing continuously from one event to another.

Found a little video from 2021 that shows the parade of Ferrari SP2 cars stopping first at Weathertech raceway (Laguna Seca) I expect we’ll see much the same this time but not sure what day the tour goes down the coast and to the track; not sure if it’s the sme dy as the Ferrari concorso at Pebble.

look it up on Google You Tube under this title

There’s a video of the Concorso in 2021 too on You Tube under this title

A little peek into the selection process at Concorso Ferrari is this excerpt from a invited Ferrari owner on Ferrari chat.co, a website:
“I successfully “applied to be invited” to Quail in 2018. Looking through my email records, I received my invitation mid-April, so it is likely too late now. Showing a car at Quail really cuts the price; I believe it was about 60% of what plain admission is. My wife is not a “car girl” but I told her that, if my car was invited, she had to attend. She really enjoyed the event.

Yeah, you really have to submit a solid story and an attractive photo to be invited. There is always a “Great Ferraris” class with the 2018 winner in that class being the magnificent 250 Testa Rossa that won Le Mans in 1958. There is also a “Supercar” class. “
