I was not at this auction in person but I watched it on the Internet. I arrive in Florida late Saturday night to attend the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance on Sunday.
The prices are the hammer prices and do not include the buyers commission.
There were a few record prices set today indicating the classic car market continues to be strong.
I particularity liked the 1969 Ferrari 365 GTC which sold for $975,000. This Ferrari was custom ordered by Barbara Hutton, the rich mother of Lance Reventlow. It is pink with suede tan interior, is unrestored and has only 22,000 KM from new.
One of Ms. Hutton’s husbands was Cary Grant, so it is possible that both Reventlow and Grant rode in, or drove, this one of a kind Ferrari.

Goodings always has an attractive lineup. As for the 911’s, the 69S that went for $130k was a steal! Somewhat surprised that the 73S went for $180k given that the motor had been massaged from 2.4 to 2.7 litres. Must be the panache of the 73 model year. Finally, from what I hear, the RS that sold for $500k was ‘over bought’ for its condition, yet another sign that the RS frenzy continues. Was surprised by the reception of the 2 Dinos, would have thought they would be near the RS. Also somewhat shocked by the BMW CSL at $50 something k, for myself one of the most beautiful cars ever built. Shows that as good as the catalogue pictures are, there is no substitute for eyes on evaluation.
