Here are the RM auction results from my sources in Europe for three cars we have been following. The prices below include a 14.4% buyers premium plus tax – I made a mistake on an earlier version of this Post.
Iso Grifo Targa Conversion
1972 Iso Grifo Targa Conversion, chassis 230 381 sold for 205,920 Euros; $283,303 US – (above the estimate range of 125,000 – 165,000 Euros).
I think this is a fair price for a Grifo with a history problem but in apparently good condition. I think the new owner is going to be happy with this Grifo. I am happy to see that RM deleted the “by Bertone” in the title as I suggested, which implied that Bertone did the targa conversion.
Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada – Record Price
1968 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada Alloy s/n 1A3*0314 sold for 560,560 Euros ($771,213). The estimate was €450.000 – €550.000.
I expected this Bizzarrini GT 5300 Strada to set a world record price because of its shiny condition even though it has many non-original modifications. And it did set a record for the highest price paid for a Bizzarrini GT 5300 Strada sold at public auction.
I think this will be a great driver for the new owner but it probably will not win any councours d’elegance events. I suspect that the new owner does not care about that.
Iso Rivolta IR300
1963 Iso Rivolta IR300 (“barn find”), chassis IR 330 058 sold for 22,880 Euros; $31,478 US – (below the estimate range of 30,000 – 50,000 Euros).
This Iso Rivolta GT must have been in worse condition that the photos indicated. I expected a higher price in Europe, the price paid is what I would expect in the US.
