Editorial: Tesla’s Crystal Ball is a Little Cloudy

by Wallace Wyss –

With the blandness of most of Detroit’s auto executives the only player in the auto game worth watching is Tesla’s Elon Musk who, we should note, went around Detroit in developing his EV auto empire. I think all the below predictions for his performance in 2024 are “iffy”:

– getting a $25,000 car in production in 2024

– getting a factory built in Mexico in 2024

– getting the price of the Cybertruck down by $30,000

– getting fully autonomous cars accepted as legal in the US so owners can began to rent them out as robotaxis

– getting the now-old-before-its-time sports car in production in 2024 (Incidentally Ferrari is so scared of Tesla they are track testing a Model S Plaid right now)

Promises, promises, right? On the other hand, I can envision new opportunities
such as:

– Tesla or SpaceX launching a hunter killer ship to counter the Russian craft sent to silence Starlink

– Tesla police cars with 500-mile range

– Tesla bots sold to Police departments for SWAT first wave on holed up barricaded armed suspects

– Tesla $50,000 small house displayed at every Tesla Gallery (please use any word but Showroom)

– Tesla Neuralink offered free to every wounded US war veteran confined to a wheelchair

– Tesla electric outboard demonstrator at every upscale marina

Just think, if Elon Musk could just stay out of politics and courtrooms, the lad could accomplish so much more…

Let us know what you think in the Comments.

Maybe there will be an army of Tesla Bots to make Cybertruck at the lower price, and also low price cars…. Tesla SEMI truck is in production, and so is Cybertruck… so don’t EVER count Elon out…

  2. he is just too extreme for my liking

  3. Whether people like Mr. Musk or not his accomplishments are undeniable… personally I am enjoying the show as it unfolds…

  4. Pip you are kidding right ? Elon is just like many who pushed the envelope. I guess if you went back to 1903 you would complain about Henry, or Tom or the other Tesla. Barra is the one who you should be concerned about. When GM goes down this time no one will extend them a dime.

    • hi John

his achievements are great, don’t get me wrong, he and the engineers at Tesla have pushed EVs so far. it’s good. it’s why does he need to act like a dick whilst doing it though, that’s what i’m refering to (i should’ve explained myself properly)

  5. Wayne Watkins says

Imagine we lived in a world where all cars were EV’s , then along came a new invention , ” internal combustion engine ” Think how well they would sell . A vehicle half the price , that will almost quarter the damage done to the roads . A vehicle that can be refueled in 1/10th the time and has a range of up to 4 times the distance in all weather conditions . It does not rely on the environmentally damaging use of non- renewable rare earth elements to power it and uses far less steel and other materials . Just think how excited people would be for such technology . It would sell like hot cakes !!!
